Our lead investigational product is laromestrocel (Lomecel-B™), which is derived from culture-expanded mesenchymal stem cell s(MSCs) that are sourced from bone marrow of young healthy adult donors. We believe that by using the same cells that promote tissue repair, organ maintenance, and immune system function, we can develop safe and effective therapies for some of the most difficult diseases and conditions associated with aging.
Our clinical development programs have delivered several positive initial results across 5 clinical trials in 3 indications: Phase 1 & 2 in Alzheimer’s Disease, Phase 1 & 2 in Aging-related Frailty, Phase 1 in HLHS, a rare pediatric disease.
Our mission is to advance laromestrocel (Lomecel-B™) and other cell-based product candidates into pivotal trials, with the goal of achieving regulatory approvals, subsequent commercialization and broad use by the healthcare community.
Our philosophy is that healthy aging can be improved through regenerative medicine approaches.
Life expectancy has substantially increased over the past century as a result of medical and public health advancements. However, this increase in longevity has not been paralleled by the number of years a person is expected to live in relatively good health, free of chronic disease and disabilities of aging – a period known as healthspan. As we age, we experience a profound decline, in both number and function, in our own MSCs, a decrease in immune system function, decline in blood vessel functioning, chronic inflammation and other issues. Our clinical data suggest that laromestrocel (Lomecel-B™) addresses these conditions through multiple mechanisms of action, or MOAs, that simultaneously target key aging-related processes.
Longeveron’s corporate headquarters and manufacturing facilities are located in the Converge Miami Building in Miami, Florida. This state-of-the-art GMP facility consists of 3,000 ft2 of cleanroom space containing 8 ISO 7 cleanrooms and ancillary areas as well as 1,150 ft2 of process development, quality control and warehousing space. All products are manufactured and released based on FDA guidance to include 21 CFR 210, 211, 606 and 610.
